Dear Diary,
Okay, that’s pretty lame. Anyway, I need to get back to keeping this a little more up to date.
As mentioned in a previous post, basketball has started. Nikala’s Miracle team has come together pretty well. They have now played in 2 tournaments. The most recent tournament was at NIU (Northern Illinois University) in DeKalb. They went 2-3 against good competition. It was thrilling to watch Nikala battle for the inside position.
The Nikala’s middle school basketball regular season has ended. There are 2 tournaments in January she are looking forward to playing. We are really excited for her as she was chosen to be on the school’s elite team for one of the tournaments.
Ellexi’s Warren team has played in one tournament and 2 regular season games. The team did really well in the tournament by winning all of their gaames against 6th grade teams. Unfortunately, in the championship game, the other team placed 7th grade girls on the team, and Warren lost the head-to-head match-up. The game was called a forfeit by the other team and the Warren Lady Blue Devils have been declared the tournament champs. The team also beat Libertyville and Wauconda in resounding fashion in divisional play. You can check on the latest information at the team web site.
Ellexi is also on the 7th grade middle school team. She is one of the 6 or 7 6th grades to make the 2 7th grade teams. (The school picks 24 players and tries to divide the teams to get fairly equal teams.) Like Nikala, the regular season play has ended, but she only has 1 tournament in January.
